Church Hierach in Clergy Vestments

The images are similar to those representing hierarchs in ceremonial clergy vestments, the main difference being the kind of the headdress worn. In this case, the canon represents a church high priest wearing a kamilavkion and not the ceremonial mitre. The kamilavkion maybe cylindrical (the Greek type) or like an inverted truncated cone (the Russian type).  The other vestments are: sticharion, epitrachelion, saccos and omophorion. A pectoral cross is also present. In most of the cases the character is holding a richly adorned copy of the Four Gospels, facing the reader. The character may be represented in a frontal posture, fully standing or torso, usually in a position suggesting a direct relationship with the onlooker, due to his “talking” glance.
